What's new
Gezel changes often. This section is the running record of those changes, one article per release, newest first.
Recent releases
1.26231 — 19 August 2026 — A live dashboard on your desktop wallpaper, disk space you can see and reclaim, backup and restore, your local models inside VS Code, and Qwen 3.8 27B tops the scorecard.
1.26226 — 14 August 2026 — Five more models on the scorecard, file problems you can hand straight to a gezel, a much fuller terminal app, and memory that keeps working when its index breaks.
1.26224 — 12 August 2026 — Measured model scores, per-model memory controls, editable Office documents, and much stricter rules about what a gezel may install.
Updating
Packaged installs check for new releases on their own and offer the update when one is ready. Nothing in your work is touched by an update: your gezellen, projects, threads, memories and files all live in ordinary files on your disk, and a new version simply reads the same files.
Separately from app releases, gezel can pick up new catalog content — model descriptions, craftbooks, role templates — without a full update. That is the Catalog content setting under Settings → About, and it is off unless you turn it on.
